Candidates & Examinees

  • What should I do to prepare?

    Get a good night’s rest and eat breakfast. This is not a test you can study for, but we do recommend that you ensure you will have access to your resume as you will be asked to complete a background questionnaire as part of the testing process.

  • What is the interview like?

    The interview typically lasts 45 minutes to one hour. You will talk about your background, past experiences, and go over the results from testing.

  • Am I responsible for paying for this evaluation? Do you take insurance?

    Insurance does not cover these evaluations as they are not considered medical treatment. Please contact our office with your specific needs and to get a quote for these evaluations.

  • Do you see patients or provide therapy?

    We do not provide ongoing mental health treatment, but we can recommend providers with experience serving Public Safety personnel.

  • The department I am applying to says I need an "Independent Medical Evaluation (IME)." Is this something you offer?

    Yes, we do serve as an independent examiners and in most cases can provide these evaluations. Please contact our office with your specific needs.

  • Are your psychological evaluations confidential?

    No. Most of the psychological evaluations we conduct are not confidential and done with the intent of passing on to your employer or potential employer a summary of our findings and recommendations. This will be reviewed in great detail when you begin the evaluation process.

  • Are your wellness checks and resilience coaching confidential?

    Yes. Our resilience coaching and wellness checks are confidential. There are very rare instances in which our psychologists are legally and ethically required to act on information provided by a client; but even in these instances we prioritize confidentiality and only share what is necessary.

Departments/Agencies

  • Can I call and get a preliminary finding?

    Yes, we usually have a preliminary result within 24 hours of the interview. Keep in mind that all of our reports go through a quality assurance process by a clinical psychologist, so preliminary findings do sometimes change.

  • Is it possible to rush a report?

    In most cases, yes. Please let our office manager know as soon as possible if you need a report rushed. We cannot rush every report, but we will accommodate as we can.

  • Do you serve as an Employee Assistance Program for public safety deparments??

    No. Thinkblot does not provide ongoing mental health treatment. However, we do provide preventative, wellness, and resilience services and often engage with EAP programs to make referrals when clinically indicated.
